Alfa Forum

Motion design and art direction for the 30th-anniversary strategy conference of Alfa-Bank, one of Russia's largest private banks.

The bank was mid-digital-transformation, and I built the visual concept around that pivot: every physical object in the event identity — the badge, the lanyard, the carabiner clip — dematerializes on screen into a black-and-white typographic abstraction. The climbing-gear metaphor carried the bank's positioning around high-risk, high-safety digital product work. When COVID forced the conference fully online, the identity's "physical → digital" logic ended up embodying what the event was about.

The bank was mid-digital-transformation, and the forum was the internal stage to set that direction. I built the motion concept around that pivot: every physical object in the event identity — the badge, the lanyard, the carabiner clip — dematerialized on screen into a black-and-white typographic abstraction. That shift from material to type was the design system.

The climbing-gear imagery was deliberate: it's the visual shorthand for 'high risk, high safety,' which is the position the bank wanted to take on building new digital products.

The forum was originally planned as an in-person conference and pivoted to fully online due to COVID-19, which, in an unplanned way, made the event itself embody the digital transformation it was about. The motion system held up across a very different delivery format than we'd designed for.
